-
Can yoga help with trauma?
Yes! The 121 sessions are different from a group class because they are focused on working with the individual in a way that works for their nervous system. Lots of details about the trauma does NOT need to be shared. The sessions are finding an individualised approach through movement and breathwork to process raw emotion carefully, gently and safely. Tessa specialises in birth trauma - whether physical or mental injury or loss
-
What is a talking circle?
A circle is a space where there are guidelines to support how communication will work so that group dynamics are helpful to deep listening. A facilitator aims to create an opportunity for everyone who wishes to speak to do so. It can be a nourishing space for sensitive, empathic souls who can be overwhelmed in usual group settings, but also for extroverts who tend to overshare! Tessa has run her women’s circle since 2014
-
How can I become a circle facilitator?
Tessa runs various levels of trainings in circle facilitation so you can learn the key components in the arc of a talk circle and practice managing group dynamics. A trauma-informed, restorative and embodied approach is important.
-
Where can I find a yoga nidra relaxation?
There are three free yoga nidra tracks on Tessa’s website: for sleep and using bilateral stimulation (don’t let the technical name put you off - it works brilliantly!) and for your menstrual cycle.
You can also purchase pregnancy-specific ones or hypnobirthing tracks in her store.
Or learn how to create and deliver your own yoga nidra - training not only for yoga teachers, but also counsellors, coaches, sound therapists and others.
