What Makes This Training Different

Whether you want to work with individuals or groups (or both), it’s important to have experience of the somatic practices yourself and know how they land in other people’s nervous systems.

Together, across 7 live sessions, we will explore:

✓ Somatic Practices for calming and activating the nervous system

Understand polyvagal theory and how to explain key concepts like the window of tolerance to clients

Experience a range of movement, breathwork, somatic practices such as havening and techniques such as bilateral stimulation to discover which work well for you (for your own resourcing) and how to discern which to use for different nervous system states

✓ Embodied Listening

Practice interoception in your own body and hear others’ diverse experiences, neurodiversity considerations

Learn how to teach interoception to others and experience reflecting back rather feedback or questioning

✓ Embodied relational attunement

Discern when to name your own embodied experience and when to name somatic markers you observe in others

✓ Physical Holding of Space

Consider the impact of your environment on their nervous system; how to enhance agency and minimise power imbalances

✓ Embodied Group Facilitation

Learn the art of facilitating a talking/listening circle in a nervous-system-aware, trauma-informed approach

Explore techniques for managing group dynamics and emotions that arise that are conducive to appropriate sharing and vulnerability.

Tanya Buck, Health & Wellness Coach, talking about the 2025 training:

“I’ve surprised myself with how much this training has meant to me. I have felt very aligned with it and can see how it can be used in its entirety but also how many elements can be inserted into various other parts of my work. I’ve found it very nourishing.

I’ve enjoyed seeing the options for each section of a circle modelled to us and participating in them so that I can get a feel for how they might work and which skills I might want to investigate further and perfect.

I particularly loved the listening partnerships and have talked to lots of people about them as well as introducing them to my circle to great success.

A deep, nourishing and supportive training and a very accessible, highly experienced leader.” Circle Facilitation Training 2025

Hi, I’m Tessa!

I bring over 20 years of experience in embodiment and somatic practice, rooted in my long-standing career as a yoga teacher. My work is grounded, intuitive, trauma-aware, and deeply informed by the wisdom of the body. I am a teacher of somatic practice at the Counselling Training School Holistically Human.

For the past 10 years, I’ve has been devoted to rites-of-passage and circle facilitation, guiding individuals and groups through meaningful thresholds with presence, compassion, and skill.

My talking/ listening circles are known for their depth, safety, and ability to reconnect people to themselves and to community. I collaborate with local organisations to host groups, such as a mindfulness and craft circle.

My PhD in Medical Sociology was multidisciplinary with Clinical, Sociology and Health Psychology supervisors. My focus was on wellbeing and normalisation in long term conditions. I authored 28 academic articles and have written eight books for women and children about their bodies with the aim of empowering them.
